Fishing tourism on Majorca
Secluded from tourism, a new way of recreation has developed on Majorca. Above all, fishers benefit
since the Mediterranean Sea offers a rich and varied fish population. Starting from a water depth of
ten meters, fishing tourists can catch as impressive fish as hake, moray eels, groupers, conger eels,
rays or even swordfish and tuna. But: The tourists must be sure where to fish. The rocky coast of Majorca,
for example, offers best opportunities to fish different kinds of porgies (Salema porgy, Annular seabream,
Saddled seabream, White seabream and the Common pandora). It is also worthwhile to watch out for specific kind
of fish in Majorca's ports: Especially around twilight, big barracudas enter the ports.
