The Salvator museum

The modern Salvator museum in Son Marroig is run by the granddaughter of Salvator´s secretary. Isabel Ribas is full of knowledge about Salvator, about his many affairs and his one true love: Majorca. The estate had been assigned to her grandfather and since then has remained in the Ribas family. Already in 1927, the family opened the property to the public. The father of Isabel Ribas then founded the museum in honour of the archduke. On this account, the estate has remained unchanged since then. Three rooms display writings, pictures and photographs of Salvator and his friends including, for example, Elisabeth of Bavaria (Empress Sissy). Furthermore, various exhibits from all over the Mediterranean which Salvator travelled with his steam yacht "Nixe" are presented, here.

The most beautiful piece of the small gardens is a pavilion made from white marble. Yet, the best view of the fortificated property including the tower can be enjoyed from the sea side or from the gardens.
